„Woah!“ Casey stopped at the picnic table in the school's yard, staring down at the paintings lying there. „Where are these from? Almost look like some of the drawings of DeNeal.“
Splenetic Stokely shook her head. „That's impossible. A horrible accident aborted his career two years ago. Which is a shame; he was such a unique artist.“
„Yes, he was,“ Casey agreed. „But whoever did these sketchings is very talented, too. He could turn out to be the new star of the comic scene soon.“
„She!“
„She, what?“
„The artist is a she.“ The girl looks annoyed. „I don't get it; why it is still so difficult to believe that a woman can create good comics.“
„Well, I don't care.“ Casey shrugged. „When she is so talented, she deserves every chance. But I would think she better chooses her name wisely, without divulging her gender too early. Sadly you are right; some people are just too small-minded, to leave well-known paths.“
„That's a good suggestion.“ To his surprise, Stokely suddenly smiled. Actually, he had never seen her smiling before; she was a loner, stubbornly doing her own thing, without caring about other people's opinions. „You will get a signed exemplar of my first comic, promised.“
