„Innocent,“ Sherlock repeated, tapping with the pen on his desk in a constant rhythm. „You think he is innocent?“
Watson felt slightly confused. „You just told Detective Bell that arresting him would be a mistake. So, I guess he is?“
He shook his head. „Of course, he is not. No one is innocent, not him, not you. Not me! But he is not the murderer of the old woman. Like I am not. And you are not. At least, I hope so. It would be a nuisance if I would have to look for a new assistant.“
„Maybe one day you will have to,“ she murmured. „If you don't stop acting like this all the time.“
„Really? So, how do you want me to be? A boring like hell detective like Bell? A respectable captain like Gregson? Sorry. I'm afraid this would be a waste of my extraordinary mind.“
She rolled her eyes, but it was difficult to argue against this. Because, even, of course, she would not admit it, deep inside, she agreed with him. Holmes might be one of the most annoying guys she had ever met, but he was also the most brilliant one.
