Title: Broken Hearts
Characters: Casey Connor. Delilah Profit
Prompt: 7 days, 7 stories / any, any, These Truths / heartbreak
Words: 571

:::

„Delilah, please, don't make a drama.“ Casey felt uncomfortable, but he knew that if he didn't find the courage now to say what was long overdue, he might never find the courage again, and everything would end in a complete mess for Deliah and for him. „We both knew that it would end like this. It never was a true relationship between us.“

She looked at him with a mixture of anger and disappointment. „How can you say this? We are together...“

„No, we are not!“ he interrupted her. „It's just me and you, Del, no media around. So you can stop putting on a show. We never were the dream couple we made people believe. You never meant me when you talked about love! It was all about the fame and the interest I got,“ he paused and shrugged, „and about all the money the media was willing to pay for our story. The hero who stands up against an alien all alone, to save the girl he loves.“ He huffed. „That's stuff cheap movies are made of, not reality. And you are much too smart to say otherwise.“

„You think I am smart?“

„I think you know what you want and how to get it. And I don't complain. First, it felt good. I mean, since I can remember, I was the geek in school, bullied, teased, and ignored. But then Mary Beth came along, and my world was turned upside down. The police investigation, my parents, who looked at me as if I had lost my mind, the media everywhere. I felt confused and afraid, and I didn't know how to deal with it.

It was good that someone else took the reins. I just let it happen and followed your unwritten script. It was easier that way. But it never was real. And I can't move on like this forever.“

She narrowed her eyes. „Great. And what's with me? Have you ever thought about my feelings?“

„Don't act as if we going separate ways is the end of the world. People might have called me a hero for a while, but let's face it. Deep inside, I stayed the geek all the time. I still love photography and chess, and too much attention makes me feel uncomfortable.“ Casey smirked. „I don't think you'll suffer from a broken heart for long. Jeremy Tremblay has an eye on you for a while already; he is a sports ass, he is goodlooking and it seems he's coming from one of the most famous families in Quebec. To cut a long story short, he fits much better in your future plans than I ever did.“

Delilah wanted to protest first, but then she kept quiet. To Casey's surprise, she was even blushing slightly. „You have noticed it,“ she murmured.

„Yes,“ Casey admitted, „and I guess this was the moment I realized that it was time to bring the charade to an end. The media interest is slowly waning anyway, and without that, there isn't much left for us. Let us do the right thing now; let's bring it to an end without any drama.“

Some moments later, a smile turned up on Delilah's face. „Maybe a tiny bit of drama and broken hearts? For the media and all our followers who are still out there?“

Casey laughed. „Agreed! Let's prepare for the last big show.“

Title: Cosplaying
Characters: Casey Connor. Stokely Mitchell, mention of Zeke Tyler
Prompt: 7 days, 7 stories / dragoncore
Words: 375

:::

„Holy shit, Stokes!“ Casey stared at his friend with wide eyes. „You look so cool! You will be the star at Comic Con.“

„Thank you!“ The girl in the costume of a female dragon rider, tight black jeans, a dark red corsage over the grey shirt, a black cape, and high black boots, grinned widely. „Wait, until you've seen the complete cosplay. I found a tutorial for the perfect makeup last week, and maybe I'll dye my hair red with henna. This should make a great contrast to the dark costume.“

She held up a pair of silver earrings, featuring two dragons. „What do you think about this as an eyecatcher? I even found a fitting necklace at the thrift store.“ Then she sighed. „The problem is still the sword; this cheap plastic thing I bought on eBay ruins everything. But even renting a good larp sword for some days coasts a shitload of money.“

„Maybe you could ask Zeke.“

„Huh? Since when has Zeke been interested in cosplay?“

„That would be fun; he would look so hot in a dragoncore costume.“ Casey laughed. „But I'm afraid he is much more interested in science fiction stuff. That doesn't mean he won't pull some strings for you, though. He was the most famous dealer at school once; I'm sure, he still has his contacts. I will talk with him this evening.“

:::

Zeke pointed at the silver sword with its golden and dark red details on the lab table. "I hope that will do it. Wasn't easy to find one last minute; seems as if the whole town is running mad because of this con."

"It's perfect." Stokely's eyes sparkled excitedly while she grabbed it, swinging it back and forth. "Can't thank you enough; you saved my day."

"No shit!" When the girl wanted to pull him into her arms, Zeke stepped back quickly, rolling his eyes. "Don't you have anything better to do? Like, dressing up in this ridiculous costume?"

Stokely laughed. "Even you still try to play the asshole, Zeke, you are not!" She bent forward, placed a fleeting kiss on his cheek, and then turned around to leave the garage. It was time to get ready for con.

Title: Sign of Trouble
Characters: Mister Smith, Kurdy Malloy
Prompt: any / any / first sign of trouble
Words: 479

:::

Kurdy frowned. „What's this supposed to mean? You don't have a past?“

The little guy beside him shrugged. „Well, I guess I have one, but I can't remember. One morning I did wake up and all my memories were gone.“

„That's kinda strange.“

„A lot in my life is strange. Like the voice in my head who insists that it's God talking with me because I am his messenger.“

Kurdy hit the brakes, and the old jeep came to a halt. Suddenly, he regretted that he had stepped in when he had seen the guy getting knocked around by a group of drunkards in the bar. Obviously, Jeremiah was right when he sometimes called him a softie; he could never turn his eyes away when someone got hassled. „One day, it will bring you serious trouble,“ his friend had warned him. „And I won't be around to help you out of it!“

Kurdy huffed inwardly; maybe the day was today. „So, who are you? A kind of priest,“ he asked cautiously.

„No. I am just...“ The guy shrugged. „One name is as good as the other. Call me Smith. Mister Smith.“

„Okay, Smith. I guess, our paths will sepa....“ A booming detonation made him stop. Shit, this had been close. On the road, only a mile down, near the bridge. Maybe the skinheads were already nearer to the Mountain than Markus knew. Kurdy felt iciness rushing through his body. So many people, good men and women, and children. They were all in danger if he didn't return in time to warn them. With a shaking hand, Kurdy turned the key in the ignition.

„That's not a good idea.“

The voice made him stop; reminded him that he was not alone. „What do you know,“ he asked, his voice sharp, his eyes narrowed.

„Going back now will lead them to the Mountain. Will bring chaos and death over to everyone living there. We will have to wait until the fog comes to hide us.“

This was too much. Kurdy grabbed the collar of the old coat, pulling Smith closer. „You will tell me all now,“ he hissed. „Who are you? Where do you know all this from? You are a spy of the skinheads?“

„Like I said, I am God's messenger. He told me to find you.“ A weak smile turned up on Smith's face when Kurdy deepened his grip. „Go ahead, I am used to it, that people hit the shit of me when I try to help them. But maybe you should think twice first.

Without me, you would have been in the middle of the bridge when the bomb exploded, and you would be dead now, or at least seriously hurt and a captive of the skinheads. No chance to go back to the Mountain in time to warn them.“

Title: Confusing Feelings
Characters: Casey Connor/Zeke Tyler
Prompt: I don't want to say I love you
Words: 601

:::

Casey frowned, looking at the boy lying beside him on the old couch suspiciously. „What's wrong,“ he asked.

Zeke opened his eyes, smirking. „Do you have any reason to complain?“

„I don't complain; I am just wondering. You are … hm … not like yourself today.“

„Geez, don't ruin this evening with talking shit.“ Zeke's voice got angry. „Can we don't just have some fun? Soon enough, you will go to college, and we won't have much time left to do so.“

„But we always knew that whatever we have is just a temporary thing. Because I will be moving to Boston after graduation. What's the problem now?“

Zeke stared at him with dark eyes. „Of course, not a problem for you. You will have a new, exciting life. While I will stay here, in Ohio, working my ass off in a shabby garage and visiting some lame clubs at the weekend, to find someone for a pathetic one night stand.“

„Woah!“ Casey blinked, feeling confused at this surprising emotional outburst. „Isn't it this, what you always did? Living your life, not caring about anything and anyone?“

„That was before you turned it around.“

„I did what? You was the one flirting like mad with me, remember? I would never have dared to even think that you could be interested in me.“

The older boy kept quiet for a moment. „You are different from anyone else I know,“ he finally answered, his voice calmer now. „It made me curious; more like a game to find out how far it would go. But I was not prepared for it, how deep you would get under my skin.“

„Okay,“ Casey said, full of caution now. „And what's this supposed to mean?“

„That maybe I will miss you when you are gone.“

„Oh!“

Zeke smirked. „Right, that's quite a mess. I mean, we had fun, right? I've never thought about telling you that I love you. Because love is only a much too overused word.“ He paused shortly. „I've always prefered to stay realistic and never expect too much. Enjoy it as long as it lasts, but when it's over, move on without any drama. It was okay that way. Until you...“

„Oh, c'mon, you can't blame me for the chaos in your life.“ After getting over his surprise, Casey couldn't hide his amusement. „And who says that the fun has to be over when I am going to college?“

„How should this work out? Some stolen hours, when you come back to Herrington every few weeks to visit your parents? Great!"

„It's not that we have much more now. Some stolen hours in your garage now and then.“ Casey shrugged. „Have you ever thought about leaving Herrington behind?“

„One place is as good as any other. Why should I bother?“

„You could move to Boston. I am sure, also in Boston, people own cars and need a good mechanic now and then.“

Zeke coughed. „You can't be serious.“

„Why not? I am still looking for a roomie. It might be much more fun together with you than sharing a room with a stranger.“

Bright blue eyes sparkled hilariously, and Zeke couldn't help it. His heart started to beat quicker. „How long have you already been thinking about this,“ he asked.

"Since I got the acceptance letter from MIT some weeks ago." Casey admitted and smiled. „But I always knew that I had to wait for the right moment. Even if I wasn't sure if it would ever come.“

Title: The Fellowship
Characters: Link, Sidon, Riyu, Yunubo, Tulin
Prompt: Fellowship
Words: 356

:::

„No!“

Four pairs of eyes looked at Link, full of surprise. It did happen only rarely that the young knight was talking, so they almost had forgotten that he was actually able to do so.

It was Tulin, the Orni knight, who first found his voice again. „No?! What's this supposed to mean,“ he wanted to know.

Link kept quiet, only shaking his head. Looking determined, he turned to his loyal horse Epona, jumped into the saddle, and lifted his hand for a goodbye. But before he could gallop down the way, the Gerudo Queen stepped forward. She was young and small, but Link had already learned not to underestimate her.

Her green-brown eyes sparkled. „You want to leave us behind? After all we did go through together, you still think you are better off alone?“

„No way,“ Yunobo huffed, „this is not your fight alone. The Gorons count on me.“

Link watched them silently, his blue eyes full of sadness, and finally stopped at Sidon, who had kept quiet so far. Now, the prince of the Zora nodded slowly. „I understand,“ he said. „I felt the same when my sister didn't return from her fight against the evil. As if I had left her alone when she needed me most.

Today, I know better. Nothing that happened so many years ago was my fault. Your fault neither. Mipha, Revali, Daruk, and Urbosa, they faced the evil without any fear because of you, Warrior of Hyrule, owner of the master sword. Even after the downfall, their souls never gave up hope that one day you will be back to bring it to an end.

The time has come. Stronger than ever before, you will take up the fight against Ganon again, and we, the progeny of the never forgotten knights, will follow you, wherever your way will take you. You can't hold us back. Because this is our fate, like it is your fate to fight for Hyrule.“

Link blinked, bent his head. „So be it,“ he said, patting Epona's neck when the horse started to prance back and forth. „Together, for Hyrule. Again.“
